We are glad that you have chosen Appalachian Regional Healthcare System (ARHS) as your place of employment.
The purpose of the New Employee Orientation is to familiarize new employees with ARHS’s
- Mission, Vision, Values
- Behavioral Standards
- Organizational Structure
You will also learn how every employee at ARHS impacts the patient experience. All new employees will attend orientation and complete required online learning modules. Orientation begins at 7:45 am on the scheduled days. On day one, we recommend that you come at least 5 minutes early to New Education Conference Room located on the Watauga Medical Center campus.
The orientation process is ongoing through the first 90-days of employment. Click here to view your first 90 days at a glance.
What You Should Expect at New Employee Orientation
A free meal will be served on Day 1 of orientation. View the orientation agendas below.
Please note, ARHS is a Tobacco-Free Environment and the use of tobacco products will be prohibited on the campuses of ARHS.
Dress Code for Orientation Day 1
Please come dressed in business casual attire (no shorts, jeans, or flip flops). For your comfort, we suggest you wear clothing you can layer, or bring a light jacket or sweater, depending on the temperature. Business casual or scrubs are appropriate for nursing orientation as well. Once you begin in your department, you may be required to wear a specific uniform. Click here to view the Uniformity Guidelines.
Your ARHS identification badge is part of your uniform and should be worn on day one. If you have not received your badge, you will receive it on day 1 of orientation.
Parking for Orientation Day 1
New Employees should park in the visitors parking in the front of Watauga Medical Center (please park towards the back to allow visitors to park closer to the doors). Other options are near the Cardiology Center or the lot next to the Cardiology Center.
